The building is an old bergerie built on the site of an 11th century Chateau or fortified village- the records say Castra Fort which could mean one or the other. The original hamlet was built by the de Termes family as one of a line of defenses to protect their silver mines and salt routes.
Two kilometres off road, with water from a natural spring and no electricity (At the moment), and heated by a wood burning stove its a little rougher than we have been use to. Surrounded by 26 hectares of prairie and oak garrigue it is a gigantic project, so far we have renovated and started the replanting of the orchard terrace, in the process of building a vegetable garden, and started planting olives.
Renovated by neo-ruralists in the 1970's and turned into a small holding practicing bio-dynamic horticulture it has been abandoned for the last 10 years. We bought it in 2005 and are slowly restoring it while working on Natural Choices Media at the same time.
The view is off the Chateau Queribus and behind the Canagou mountain that seperates Northern French Catalonia from Southern Catalona. Canagou is a sacred mountain to the Catalans.
Its a tough life living in the South of France but some how we manage.
