Who we are
Peter Shield, Founder and Managing Director.
Peter
has a huge depth of advertising and publishing experience, he started
at the Financial Times, moving across to The Economist and then onto
founding European Voice for the Economist Group in Brussels. From that
auspicious start it all went down hill really, he was the European Sales
Director of 24/7 Media Europe based in Amsterdam, Europe's leading online
advertising sales organisation running 14 sales teams in 12 country's.
He moved onto being the COO of the online sales organisation for Vivendi
Universal, the world's second largest media organisation, based in Paris.
Lately he has been the Strategy and Business Development Director for
Decision News Media, one of Europe's fastest growing online business
to business publishers. There have been a few blind alleys along the
road, but we don't talk about those three months in Stockholm do we
Pete?
He has been involved with a wide range of development, human rights,
community and trade union campaigns, from walking on Nelson Mandela
Freedom March in 1988, crossing the border illegally into Iraq with
the Kurdish peshmerga in 1990, setting up Kurdistan Focus, to being
Chair of Hackney Trade Union Support Unit, and Secretary of Stoke Newington
Community Centre. He has delusions about becoming an olive farmer, so
far he has planted eight - one has died. He can be found serving food
at the Aude Stand at the Fete de l'Humanite in Paris every September-
just ask for the ugly bald bloke. To e-mail Peter click here
Caroline Coles, Founder, Administrator, Reporter and Company Conscience
What
Peter talks about Caroline has actually done, a keen climber in her
wild days, she worked for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament just
as the Cruise Missile issue and Greenham hit the headlines. She could
often been seen traipsing on foot between one nuclear plant and another
followed only by chanting Buddhist monks. She then went on to work for
Hackney Community Action, the umbrella group that lobbied on behalf
of all the community organisation in Hackney, her days and evenings
were spent cycling from one meeting to another all over the Borough,
kicking cars as she went. Which is ironic really as she then went onto
do the Knowledge and become a London black cab driver. Giving that up
with the comment, "If you want a bigoted opinion ask a London taxi
passenger", she took up benefit advice at Catford Trade Union Centre
for the Unemployed, before moving onto Kensington and Chelsea Advice
Centre dealing mainly with immigration and welfare rights. Moving to
Brussels in 1995 she worked as an assistant to an Irish MEP in the European
Parliament.
Caroline's passions include the le Tour de France, photography, films,
mountains, organic horticulture and a rather worrying fascination with power tools, particularly
chain saws and chippers. To email Caroline click here
